Penguins sweep Bantam Silver division

The Bantam 2000 Salekin team took home the Bantam Silver Championship banner and trophy from the Texas Star Winter Classic over MLK weekend.   The team went undefeated over 4 games.

The Penguins started off against the Phoenix Jr. Coyotes 2000 team, winning 7-3.  The team posted 47 shots on goal and had goals scored by 6 different players, Rafael Praysner, Adam Doucette, Preston Ford (2), Ryan Casey, Nate Keith and Caleb Dusek .  Evan Williams was in net for the win.

Next up the Penguins stomped the Dallas Jr. Stars – Euless team by a score of 8-3.  The Penguins again posted 47 shots on goal and the line of Casey-Praysner-Doucette racked up 5 goals in the game.  Other goals were scored by Griffin Sugasawara and Dusek.   Ethan Williams was in goal for the win.  This was the 3rd time this season the Penguins have beaten DJS-Euless.

Oklahoma City was the next to fall…by a score of 4-2.   The Penguins posted 39 shots on goal and had scoring from Praysner (2), Doucette and Ethan McDonald.  Evan Williams was in goal for the win.  This put the Penguins in first place for pool play and a spot in the Championship game.

The Penguins faced the Texas Jr. Stars of Austin in the Championship game.  These two teams have faced off 4 times this season – including two games the weekend prior.  Penguins had won all 4 games but that didn’t stop the Stars from coming out swinging.  Stars took a 1st period lead 1-0.  The Penguins came on strong in the 2nd period, scoring 3 goals (plus one called off when the goalie dislodged the net) by the Casey-Praysner-Doucette line.  In the 3rd period,  Sugasawara scored on a Power Play with assists from Hunter Lane and Ethan McDonald.  The Stars didn’t let up and scored a goal with 10 minutes left in the 4-2 game.   The Penguins were able to hold off the Stars for the remainder of the game for the Championship.  Ethan Williams got the start and the win with Evan Williams playing the final 10 minutes of the game.

Congratulations to all the boys and coaches on this accomplishment!  Go Penguins!
