Hosting the Ice Jets, the Penguins scored first with an unassisted goal straight from the opening face-off. The Jets answered back three minutes later with their first. Then at 5:43 in the period, the Penguins got their second. The rest of the period was all Jets scoring an additional three goals putting them on a hot streak at the end of the first with the Jets 4 and Penguins 2.
Midway through the second, the Penguins were able to put in another goal. Going into the third, DJHA was still down, but took advantage of a powerplay to tie the game. At the end of regulation, the score was tied. The Penguins came out quickly and scored just thirty-four seconds into the overtime period thus winning the game 5 – 4. The Penguins outshot the Jets 25 – 15. Special note: For the first time this season, the goals were scored by five different players.
