The Dallas Penguins U16AA team finished the regular season League play with a record of 17 – 1 – 2 and the regular season league championship. The boys went on to the State Playoffs and after defeating the Allen Americans 4-2 in the round robin, fell at the end of the State Championship game to those same Americans 1-0 in the second of two 10 minute overtimes.

The team advanced to the Nationals tournament on the basis of their overall ranking of #38 in the country and played 3 hard fought games:

Game 1 was vs. the #32 team from Maryland, the Howard Huskies. The penguins jumped on them early and often in route to a 7-2 victory, with goals by Will Greenman, Ethan Mckinley, Jonathon Krause, Bryce Harrison, Nic Griebenow and 2 from Caden Halverson.

Game 2 was vs. the team from Wisconsin, who was ranked # 4 in the country coming into the weekend. The penguins fought hard and out shot as well as out played them, however no pucks reached the back of the net and the boys fell 1-0.

Game 3 was vs. the Tampa Scorpions who came into the weekend ranked #1 in the country. The Penguins playing for their chance to move on to the Quarter Finals gave the Scorpions everything they could handle and after trailing 3-0 early in the second period , rallied to make it a 1 goal game at 3-2 late in the third with goals by Kyle LeComte in the 2nd period and Jacob Plattner in the third.  However that was as close as the penguins could get and after giving up a late goal fell by a score of 4-2.

*The Tampa Scorpions went on to win the National Championship with their total goals of 35 vs. only 5 against, 2 of which came from the Penguins.

Overall for the season the U16AA Penguins went 37-18-3 and finished ranked #38 in the country. We’re all proud of these great boys!
