Travis Stryker Memorial Scholarship

In November of 2014, and as a way of honoring Travis and the Stryker Family, the DJHA Board of Directors voted on and agreed to a proposal to rename the existing scholarship fund in Travis’ name. The Travis Stryker Memorial Scholarship will continue to help cover a portion of the hockey related costs for families that meet financial requirements and players that meet specific academic and community service requirements.

Each season, DJHA makes a limited number of scholarship opportunities available to players who might otherwise not be able to participate in travel hockey.  Selection of players for this financial assistance is based on financial need, academic performance in school and involvement in school and community activities.  Scholarships will be awarded in accordance with DJHA and DSTHL policies.

Travis Stryker Memorial Scholarship Application Submission Deadline:

SEPTEMBER 1, 2023

In the event you have a legitimate need for financial assistance, please read the Travis Stryker Memorial Scholarship Guidelines carefully and complete the included application.  All information required must be provided before any application will be considered.

Dan Hess Memorial Scholarship

The Dan Hess Memorial Scholarship was established in 2005 to honor Dan Hess who was one of our coaches. In 2014, to continue honoring Dan for his service with DJHA, the Board of Directors voted to transition this scholarship program to be an annual award given to one or more graduating seniors at the end of each season.

The recipients are announced and receive their awards following the conclusion of the season each year, recognized on our website (Alumni page) and also on a perpetual plaque which is on permanent display in the trophy case upstairs at Dr Pepper Starcenter - Plano.

The Application process and award criteria is consistent with academic & community service requirements we've used for years.

Dallas Junior Hockey Association is a non-profit organization and our funding, particularly for our scholarship programs, comes from tax-deductible contributions which can be made via the Online Donation Registration link below and directed to a specified team or our general operating fund. DJHA also accepts donations made on your player’s behalf from sources that you solicit i.e. friends, family, employers or local businesses.

For all donations, fifteen percent will go to our scholarship programs with the remaining 85% going directly to the specified team, player, or our operating fund.

Remember that while your team or your player can gain from the contribution, most every business small and large has a program for giving and all you have to do is ask. So first, consider donating to your team. Then as you see fit ask for donations from your work or from a neighborhood business. In the event you connect with a large organization and would like some help presenting the opportunity, contact any Board member and we’ll go with you to talk about the value of contributing to the Dallas Penguins mission.
