The Dallas Penguins 1996 AA Layton team said its season farewell’s to one another at its season ending party on March 8th at Main Event in Plano. At the party, for the second year in a row, the “Coach Team” continued its dominance over the “Player Team” by winning the Penguin Laser Tag Super Bowl. After wards, Coach Layton applauded the players for the tremendous improvements they made as the season advanced and for the heart and hard work they showed in every contest this season. The team went from experiencing some early season lopsided losses to forging a better then .500 record during its last 20 games, beating many of the league’s top teams coming down the stretch. Coach Layton’s approach of teaching hockey skills, team skills and life skills through the game of hockey was clearly evident this season as the team advanced tremendously in their personal maturity, leadership skills and overall knowledge of the inner workings of the game of hockey. It was a wonderful and memorable season complete with both frustrating challenges and exciting successes. No program can be successful in the long run without the support of a great group of parents who once again this year were awesome. Thanks to all for making the 2008-09 season a joy.
