Coach Atkinson has been playing or coaching hockey for over 50 years. He grew up in and played most of his hockey in Calgary for the AAA Royals organization but he did get his start at DJHA in 1971. After Midget Major AAA he then went on to play Junior hockey in Calgary before moving down to Texas to go to UTA and get his MS in Information Systems.

Coach Atkinson enjoys helping players realize their potential is limitless if they continue to give effort and develop. Having been at DJHA for over 15 years, Coach Atkinson is very happy to help players learn hockey, life, and enjoy the game of hockey as the fantastic sport that it is. Hockey is a great way to learn life lessons and Ken does not overlook any opportunity to help players see the advantage of these chances to learn.

His primary focus is skating, team and skill development. This, with a sound understanding of the game allows developing players to use these skills to help them succeed in game situations, as team mates, and in life.
